(And Why You Only Need a Few, Done Well)
There are thousands of funnel templates out there.
Webinar funnels. Tripwire funnels. VSL funnels. Challenge funnels.
It’s overwhelming.
But here’s the truth:
Most purpose-driven businesses don’t need dozens of funnels.
They need the right one—or two—that align with their mission, audience, and business model.
After helping hundreds of businesses, I’ve found five funnel types that consistently drive results for B2B and service-based companies doing $2M–$20M a year.
Let’s break them down so you can choose the one that fits.
- The Lead Magnet + Nurture Funnel
Best for: Businesses with a longer sales cycle or educational component.
How it works:
- Offer a high-value lead magnet (eBook, checklist, cheat sheet).
- Trigger an email nurture sequence using AI-personalised content.
- Drive toward a discovery call or consultation.
Why it works:
Warm leads want to learn before they buy. This funnel builds trust over time.
Watch for:
Low opt-in rates = poor lead magnet positioning. Weak follow-up = lost leads.
- The VSL (Video Sales Letter) Funnel
Best for: High-ticket services or consulting offers.
How it works:
- Run ads or email traffic to a landing page with a strong headline.
- Let the VSL do the heavy lifting—explaining the value, the process, and the call to action.
- Qualify and book a call via a short application or calendar tool.
Why it works:
Great for educating and pre-selling without needing a sales team to do all the talking.
Watch for:
If your video is too long, too generic, or too slow to get to the point—drop-off will be brutal.
- The Book-a-Call Funnel
Best for: Time-poor CEOs with clear offers and brand awareness.
How it works:
- Direct outreach or retargeting ad sends traffic to a landing page.
- Short, punchy copy + strong social proof.
- Calendar embed → Call booked.
Why it works:
Simple. Fast. Direct. Perfect for hot leads or targeted ABM campaigns.
Watch for:
No-shows and unqualified bookings—solve this with smart form gating and pre-call automations.
- The Testimonial + Case Study Funnel
Best for: B2B with strong client results but low brand trust.
How it works:
- Run retargeting or email traffic to a case study landing page.
- Include video testimonials, clear metrics, and “before/after” framing.
- End with a simple CTA to start a conversation.
Why it works:
Social proof is your best salesperson—especially for skeptical buyers.
Watch for:
Generic testimonials (“They were great!”) don’t cut it. Get specific.
- The Quiz/Assessment Funnel
Best for: Consultants, coaches, and service firms with layered solutions.
How it works:
- Offer a diagnostic or scorecard (“What’s Your AI Readiness Score?”)
- Use conditional logic to personalise outcomes.
- Deliver value instantly + invite deeper engagement.
Why it works:
It’s interactive, value-packed, and perfect for segmenting your list.
Watch for:
Quizzes that feel like homework. Make it fun and useful.
